THE DANISH FISHERMAN
LEGEND OF BLACK SHUCK
Black Shuck is one of the oldest English Legends about a huge ghostly spirit dog with a black shaggy coat and flaming red eyes, which is said to roam the East Anglian countryside and beyond.
There are many stories about the legendary hound and as the years have passed, like all legends, the stories have become more and more elaborate. Hence there are now probably as many variations on the legend as there are varieties of Gin. One such story tells that a Danish Fisherman, a Saxon Fisherman and a black dog got into trouble whilst out fishing. It is said that the body of the Danish fisherman was washed up at Beeston while the body of the Saxon fisherman washed up at Overstrand and the dog, Black Shuck has roamed the Norfolk coastline in between, looking for his masters, ever since.
